Lorenza Colonna

Lecturer

Lorenza Colonna is a Lecturer of Linguistics and Speech and Language Pathology at the College of Staten Island, CUNY. She holds a B.A. in English with a concentration in Linguistics from the College of Staten Island (CSI) and an M.S. in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from New York University (NYU), where she received her clinical certificate of clinical competency in Speech and Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and a certificate for Teachers of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).

With extensive clinical experience, she has practiced as a speech and language pathologist at NYU’s Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic, NYU’s Looking for Shakespeare Specialty Clinic, multiple elementary schools in New York City's Department of Education (Districts 31 and 75), and in private practice. Her professional and academic interests center on neurogenic disorders affecting speech and language, with a particular focus on Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).

In the classroom, she teaches a range of courses in both linguistics and speech and language pathology. She also serves as a clinical advisor to students pursuing careers in the field and mentors the Linguistics and Speech Science Club, coordinating community engagement initiatives such as fundraisers and awareness walks for CAS on Staten Island.

She is deeply committed to meeting the diverse needs of her students while promoting engagement, growth, and service both in and outside of the classroom.
